Kirby Cove

Tyler held his marriage proposal to Natalie at Kirby Cove in the Marin Headlands on an overcast San Francisco day. On a New Year’s trip together, Tyler opted not to go for the typical New Year’s Eve proposal but rather preferred to do a more unexpected date the day before they flew back home to Florida. It was a well thought-out plan as Tyler mailed me a DIY “letter string” measuring at least 30 yards ahead of time. With a word written on a piece of paper every few inches along the string describing how he felt about her and concluding with the words, “Will you marry me?” Tyler wanted something unique and memorable to catch Natalie by surprise. It was cute to see Natalie’s reaction to this seemingly random string on the beach, as she had no idea what to do with it when she first saw it. Soon after reading the first few pieces of paper, she started smiling uncontrollably and had to be coaxed into completing the string messages by an eager Tyler, waiting until the last few notes to propose.

In attendance were Natalie’s best friend and boyfriend who were in on the plan and just as excited for them as they were. It was the perfect start to a new year for everyone involved and I hope I can always start every New Year sharing in other meaningful celebrations for years to come.

Update: Natalie sent me this awesome video of the canvas print she made of their time in San Francisco. I love it when Clients share news with me that they are printing their images because photos are meant to be seen and displayed and not stored on a computer!
